Freelance Mum Mega Meet Up at Tractors & Cream in Somerset
Recap from Faye Dicker of Freelance Mum
One of the things I love most about National Freelancers Day, is it’s just a great excuse to get together and connect with fellow freelancers. In the world where digital meetings have become the norm (and that’s great, they have their place) it’s all too easy to forget to actually meet up, with real life people. So NFD – and in fact, the whole of June, has been a great month to celebrate that!
The last 12 months at Freelance Mum have been a huge turning point, with the launch of the hubs and netwalks across different parts of the country. We’ve gone from having the one original hub in Bristol, to launching hubs in Winchester, Southampton, North Somerset, Somerset and South Devon. It’s quite some growth!
So having National Freelancers Day in June, was a great opportunity to host an NFD fringe event and all meet up. Although lots of us had connected at the weekly online coffee morning, as well as the monthly netwalks in each area, nothing beats the magic of everyone being in the same room together.
Although, when I say ‘room’, perhaps ‘dome’ is a more accurate word – as the Freelance Mum Mega Meet Up, was held at Tractors & Cream in Somerset, in their new events dome. The sun shone as we enjoyed a netwalk in the beautiful Somerset setting, we enjoyed an icebreaker by throwing a ball of pink wool to everyone, to show how we were all connected and had some incredible guest speakers.
FM members came together from across the country, to enjoy celebrating NFD, in their own unique way. It was an incredible moment to all be together and celebrate how far we’ve all come – most definitely the start of an annual event!
